    Dr Williams is a professional editor and writer with an academic background in psychology. Her PhD in comparative psychology focused on research on chimpanzee personality and social relationships. Dr Williams worked for 20 years as a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Liverpool Hope University in the UK. Her research interests covered a number of areas, including biological and evolutionary psychology, social psychology and personality, embodied accounts of animal cognition, and psychological and phenomenological approaches to health and illness. With an interest in conflicting accounts of experience, she has researched parapsychology and alternative medicine and to more fully understand experiential approaches to health, she studied Chinese medicine theory and practice, becoming a qualified Chinese Medicine practitioner in 2007. With an interest in scientific frameworks of understanding, and scientific communication, Dr Williams has published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as the International Journal of Primatology, Qualitative Research in Psychology and the Journal of Chinese Medicine, and has written successful research grant proposals. Dr Williams is an associate member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, UK, and joined the Edanz Group as an editor in 2014.
