Dr McCafferty has more than 10 years of experience working in a multidisciplinary environment, having researched and taught across a range of science and engineering subjects. Her research interests are primarily in biomedical engineering, with published work in the fields of biomaterials, tissue engineering, and nanoscience. Recent research focused on the development of new bio-synthetic nanoparticle types for potential use in a broad range of medical applications. Dr McCafferty is knowledgeable in materials science, regenerative medicine, medical technology, mammalian cell biology, stem cells, 3D cell culture, nanotechnology, nanoparticles, and bio-nano interactions.
