Dr Milovanovic is a professor at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Medicine, and is an affiliated scientist at the University of Hamburg. The main topics of his expertise are related to the musculoskeletal system, including bone structure, aging-related changes, function and viability of bone cells, fracture risk assessment, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, bone development, dental research, bone replacement materials, orthopedics, biomaterials, and biomechanics. Although Dr Milovanovic has the primary position at the department of human anatomy, he is also involved in other medical topics that span basic and clinical sciences, especially those that require morphological assessment, including atherosclerosis, diabetes, seizures, rheumatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and veterinary medicine. The range of methodological approaches he is familiar with encompasses both clinical imaging methods, such as radiology, and interdisciplinary research methods, such as advanced microscopy, mechanical testing, and immunohistochemistry. He is also experienced in the application of novel technologies.
Dr Milovanovic has published more than 80 papers in international peer-reviewed journals from the JCR list, of which more than 20 were as the first author. More than 50 were published in journals ranked in the top 30% in the appropriate category according to impact factor, such as ACS Nano, Biomaterials, Small, Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences, and Aging Cell. These papers have been cited more than 1500 times. He also has more than 60 conference presentations, including those at leading European or international research societies.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Milovanovic has served as an expert reviewer for several highly ranked journals in the field of medicine and leading funding agencies such as the German Research Foundation, European Commission, and Ludwig Boltzmann Society. He joined Edanz as a Research Consultant in 2017.
