Dr Ayoob is a broadly trained neuroscientist, cell biologist, and Drosophila geneticist, who is currently working on molecular genetic mechanisms of programmed cell death and engulfment signaling pathways. He has more than 15 years of experience in laboratory research, mentoring, and both manuscript and grant writing. He has also used his substantial experience in scientific writing and editing to create a course on effective scientific writing for the graduate program in which he teaches.
Dr Ayoob has published original peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in leading journals such as Development, the Journal of Neuroscience, PLoS Comp Bio, and Neuron, with six contributions as first author and one as corresponding author.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Ayoob has served as an academic and freelance editor for students, colleagues, and clients since 2006. He has been a reviewer for PLoS One, the Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, Course Source, and Cell Motility and the Cytoskeleton. Dr Ayoob joined Edanz as an editor in 2021.
Dr Ayoob has written numerous original scientific manuscripts and proposals in the fields of neuroscience, molecular genetics, cell biology, development, and education. He has also created a course on effective scientific writing for his graduate program at the University of Pittsburgh.
