Dr Zunino has a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology and more than 30 years’ experience as a laboratory scientist and teacher. She has conducted research, supervised students and technicians, taught graduate and undergraduate college students, published in high-impact journals, and obtained multiple grants to support her work. Dr Zunino is knowledgeable in cellular and molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, microbiology, and how these relate to biomedical fields such as endocrinology, cardiology, oncology, pharmacology, physiology, pathology, and neurology.
Dr Zunino has authored 40 peer-reviewed articles in journals including Cancer Research, Blood, Cancer Letters, Leukemia, American Journal of Pathology, and the Journal of Nutrition. She has also authored three book chapters and has presented her work as an invited speaker at multiple international conferences.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Zunino has edited manuscripts, grants, and other documents for students and colleagues. She has been a reviewer for multiple journals including Cancer Letters, American Journal of Pathology, Nutrition and Cancer, and for funding agencies such as the American Heart Association. Dr Zunino joined Edanz Group as a freelance editor in 2020.
Over her career, Dr Zunino has written research articles, grant applications, book chapters, and other documents, such as Institutional Review Board and Animal use applications. She has some medical writing experience from her human studies that were conducted to determine the role of antioxidant-rich foods on immune and physiological function with a direct link to obesity research.
