Dr Lees' PhD thesis focused on the study of in vitro cellular metabolic activity using near infrared spectrophotometry. She has an excellent academic record covering a wide scientific background, and trained in copy-editing in-house at the Institute of Electrical Engineers before passing a course in proofreading administered by the Publishing Training Centre, London. She has been a successful freelance editor for 15 years, tackling subjects in all areas of science, medicine and technology, and edits for both books and journal articles for a number of prestigious publishers, including Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis and Biomed Central. A Chartered Physicist and a Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, Dr Lees joined Edanz Group as an editor in April 2015.
