Dr Cummins taught Anatomy, Human Biology and Reproductive Biotechnology at Murdoch University in Western Australia from 1991 to 2013 and is now an Adjunct Associate Professor contributing to lectures, laboratory classes and postgraduate student supervision. His PhD thesis focused on the nature and causes of infertility in rabbits following artificial cryptorchidism, and he has additional experience in mammalian reproduction and development and mammalian embryology. He has extensive expertise in reproductive biology and assisted conception techniques such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), as well as the extraction and PCR amplification of DNA, SEM/TEM microscopy, histology, and fluorescence microscopy autoradiography and immunochemistry. He has sat on the editorial boards of several top journals, including Human Reproduction and Reproductive Biomedicine Online, and chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Reproductive Technology Council of Western Australia (the government body overseeing IVF clinics). He is also an Associate Editor for Reproduction, Fertility and Development, and was a Visiting Professor at Osaka University’s Genome Information Research Center in Japan in 2005. Dr Cummins has been involved in professional editing for 15 years, working on approximately 4500 papers, and began editing for Edanz Group in 2009.
