Dr Koehler is an experienced biologist in the fields of botany and plant conservation. She has more than 10 years of experience in conducting field studies, supervising students, and publishing work in international, high-impact journals. She is knowledgeable in the fields of botany, conservation biology, ecology, ecophysiology, evolution, Hawaiian natural history, native Hawaiian plants, plant anatomy, plant physiology, rare species management, taxonomy, and tropical biology.
Dr Koehler has authored papers in peer-reviewed papers journals including Ecology and Evolution, PhytoKeys, and the International Journal of Plant Sciences. She has presented at several international conferences and has been the invited speaker at the XVIII International Botanical Congress, Melbourne, Australia.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Koehler has edited manuscripts for both students and colleagues in her field. She has been a reviewer for the Nordic Journal of Botany, Pensoft Publishers’ Biodiversity Data Journal, Taxon, and Tropical Ecology. Dr Koehler joined Edanz Group as an editor in 2019.
Dr Koehler has written about Hawai‘i Tropical Shrublands in the encyclopedia Biomes and Ecosystems. She has written multiple times for the Botanical Society of American's Plant Science Bulletin.
