1985 - MS Mechanical Engineering, Stony Brook University
1983 - BE Mechanical Engineering, Stony Brook University
Dr Brewster is a mechanical engineer with a specialty in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer and has over 25 years of experience working in industry. The majority of his career has been at an engineering consulting and software company (CD-adapco, later acquired by Siemens PLM), working in engineering simulation for a range of applications, including nuclear, automotive, aerospace, marine, and electronics. He has also been employed at several companies that provided more direct industry experience, such as IBM (electronics), Northrop Grumman (aerospace and marine), and Westinghouse Electric (nuclear).
Dr Brewster has published more than 30 papers at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, the International Journal of Heat & Mass Transfer, and the ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering. He has presented at numerous international conferences, including the Nuclear Reactor Thermal Hydraulics (NURETH) conferences, and has been an invited speaker at several industry seminars.
Editing and Reviewing Experience
Dr Brewster has edited manuscripts (papers and reports) for colleagues at the various companies where he has worked. He has also served as a reviewer for several archival journals, most recently for the ASME Journal of Fluids Engineering, Annals of Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Engineering & Design, as well as numerous technical conferences. Dr Brewster joined Edanz as an editor in 2021.
Dr Brewster has written many papers that have been published in peer-reviewed archival journals and presented at technical conferences. He has also authored numerous technical reports, including for industry consortia and internal company distribution.
