Following an honors degree in electrical and electronic engineering, Mr Luetchford worked in avionics and on missile simulators before gaining a teaching diploma in mathematics, computing, and statistics. As a lecturer in mathematics, computing, and statistics at colleges in the UK, over the following decade he taught on a wide range of courses, including courses in statistics for the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Defence.
Moving to Japan in 1977 as a telecommunications instructor for a large telecommunications company, Mr Luetchford made the move into documentation, employed as a senior technical writer and editor in the translation departments of two of Japan’s top convention organizers. A member of the European Association of Science Editors, since returning to the UK he has been editing scientific and engineering papers for universities and corporate research centers across Japan.
