For the second year running, Edanz Group was invited to the Tokyo Institute of Technology to provide conference presentation training to PhD students and early-career researchers in the physical sciences. As with the first workshop given in March 2016, Dr Andrew Jackson and Ms Ayli Chong--both trained English teachers with science backgrounds--led the whole-day training session, on 22 February 2018.

In the first half of the day, the trainers gave a whole-class seminar on conference presentation and question-and-answer skills to more than 100 researchers.

In the second half of the day, 14 researchers who had previously submitted slides for comments from Edanz editors used their revised slides to give short presentations about their research. At the end of each presentation, the rest of the class asked questions, both to practice their conference etiquette and to let the presenter practice his or her skills in giving impromptu replies.

The organizers were again pleased with the success of the event and noted the participants' enthusiasm and interactivity in the presentation practice session. The feedback received from the participants was also very appreciative and positive.
